Spain is making steady progress in the hydrogen race. The growing risks to gas supplies due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the ban on Russian gas and Asian demand, as well as their impact on prices, are beginning to bring hydrogen production costs into line.

To drive forward the roll-out of this new energy carrier, Enagás, the French companies NaTran and Terega, the Portuguese company REN and the German company OGE have just taken a step forward with the start of the detailed engineering phase (Front-End Engineering and Design, FEED) for the BarMar subsea hydrogen pipeline, one of the most ambitious energy infrastructure projects currently being promoted by the European Union.
