José Miguel Atienza Riera
Biography
José Miguel Atienza Riera holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). He is a researcher in the field of Advanced Materials, with over 50 articles published in scientific journals and involvement in more than 30 public projects and private contracts.
He has been Director of the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering at the UPM since 2022, and previously served as Vice-Rector for Academic Strategy and International Relations at the UPM for five years (2016–2020). He is the coordinator of the Tech Diplomacy & International Cooperation Community within the European Universities Alliance (EELISA) and of the Tech Diplomacy Educational Innovation Group at UPM.
