Francisco Javier Martín Carrasco

Francisco Javier Martín Carrasco is a Civil Engineer and holds a degree in Law.

He worked at the consultancy firm INYPSA and, in 2000, resigned of his own accord to take up a full-time post as a lecturer at the UPM, where he devoted himself exclusively to teaching and research.

In 2005, he was appointed Deputy Director and Head of Studies at the School, and in 2013 he was elected Director of the School, a post which, after being re-elected in 2017, he held until 2022. Since then, he has been Director of the Department of Civil Engineering: Hydraulics, Energy and the Environment.

The author of five books, he has supervised more than 50 final-year projects and supervised research projects, as well as having directed 10 doctoral theses, 28 competitive projects, 24 research contracts, 43 publications and 45 conference papers.

He was awarded the Medal of Honour in 2016 by the Spanish Association of Civil Engineers and was appointed Army Brand Ambassador in 2020.
